These two spots are about 5 minutes apart from each other in Colorado Springs. Garden of the Gods to me is a nice place however it is full of tourists which is great, however, not great for nature photography when you do not want people in your shots, so Red Rocks Canyon Open Space is a great spot. There are more trails and a vast amount of land to walk around. It connects to the Pike National Forest and has a nice lake as pictured above.

The pictures of the Jeep are a great story. I had just gotten out of class and my buddy calls me and asks me to take pictures of his Jeep. We went to the Garden of the Gods and had a bunch of fun just trying different angles. As the sun went down I noticed the clouds were going to make a gorgeous sunset. I knew that because I saw how light and whispy the clouds were and knew that sunlight would influence their color quite a bit. As you can see in the picture above what I am talking about. The clouds were thin and had amazing detail inside of them.

These two pictures above and below are from Red Rock Canyon Open Space at different times of the year. The one on top was taken in the spring and the bottom one was taken in the early portion of fall. You can kind of see the difference in how it effects the picture. In the spring there is less green so I had to focus on the foreground more to give the picture more texture. Below there is a lot of green thus I could open up the frame and try and get the reflection of the mountain range. If you want to photograph reflections, then go when the water is calm so almost no weather or wind, try and get the sun at a lower angle. You will also need a faster shutter speed in order to keep from the water making a blur. To learn more 42 West has a great step by step direction.
