This hidden treasure in the middle of nowhere Calhan, Colorado is such a beautiful spot. You drive on a dirt road for quite a bit with nothing but grass, windmills, and houses to see. Then all of a sudden you see this almost hole in the ground that just goes on like a river, inside of that hole there are lots of amazing shapes and colors. I went in the afternoon in the winter. It had snowed a few days before which made it difficult to walk around! So be careful out there I almost broke my camera due to clumsiness!

The paint mines have an interesting texture, they look like a solid rock but once you touch the "rock" you can tell it's much softer and will actually crumble. When I was here I was hoping to get some sun stars, some sun on the rocks, and great cloud formations. Sadly I arrived a bit late to get a lot of sun on the rocks but did get some good ones like down below. The clouds were able to break and give some great texture in the sky.

While I did not get all the pictures I wanted it was still nice to scout out the location so then I can go back and make sure to go earlier in the day to get more light in there and also go when there is less snow so I do not have to worry about slipping!
